HHX PARTS John Deere Turbocharger Range: From Compact Tractors to Large Excavators

John Deere is one of the world’s most recognised and trusted names in agricultural and construction equipment. The distinctive green machines — from compact utility tractors and skid steers, to mid-size 200–270-class excavators, to flagship 8000-series row-crop tractors and 350-class construction equipment — are powered by a lineage of diesel engines spanning nearly five decades of development.

John Deere uses a unique RE-prefix OEM part numbering system for turbochargers (e.g. RE550941, RE534565), alongside legacy DZ-prefix numbers for newer Tier 4 equipment. The same physical engine may carry different RE numbers depending on the machine model, production year, and emission tier — making accurate cross-referencing essential.

At HHX PARTS, John Deere represents one of our highest-SKU single-brand turbocharger lines — covering 24+ products spanning the full PowerTech engine range plus classic pre-PowerTech engines still in heavy service. This guide organises our complete inventory by engine family, with direct links to every available product.

Understanding John Deere RE and DZ Part Numbers

John Deere’s part numbering system is one of the more complex in the agricultural and construction aftermarket. Understanding it prevents the most common ordering errors:

  • RE-prefix numbers (e.g. RE550941, RE534565) — the standard John Deere OEM part number format for engine components including turbochargers. RE numbers are superseded frequently as John Deere updates specifications — a 2015-production machine may have a different RE number than a 2008-production machine with the same engine model designation.
  • DZ-prefix numbers (e.g. DZ108149, DZ108124) — introduced for Tier 4 Interim and Tier 4 Final era components. DZ numbers often cross-reference to the same physical unit as older RE numbers but may incorporate updated actuator or VGT calibrations.
  • SE-prefix numbers (e.g. SE502442, SE502374) — typically used on export-spec machines and in some markets as an alternate OEM reference for the same unit.
  • AR and DZ numbers on classic engines (e.g. AR64626, AR70987) — used on pre-PowerTech era engines (6466, 6076, 6404T). These engines are no longer in production but remain widely in service.

Always specify the machine serial number or PIN when ordering John Deere turbochargers — the same engine model may have used different turbocharger configurations across production runs, and the John Deere PIN encodes the precise build specification needed to confirm the correct unit.
