The modern internal combustion engine is a complex power system whose performance, efficiency, and reliability depend on the coordinated work of many components. Among these components, the turbocharger, with its ability to significantly improve the engine’s “lung capacity” and efficiency, has become a revolutionary technology.

Before understanding turbochargers, we first need to understand the other key components of an engine. Together, they form the foundation of engine operation.

1. Core Moving Components: This is the “heart” of the engine.

Pistons and Connecting Rods: Reciprocate within the cylinders, converting the explosive force of fuel combustion into mechanical motion.

Crankshaft: Converts the reciprocating motion of the pistons into rotational motion, outputting power.

Camshaft and Valve: Precisely control the intake and exhaust processes, often referred to as the engine’s “breathing system.”

2. Fuel and Ignition System:

Injectors: Precisely atomize fuel and inject it into the intake manifold or cylinder (direct injection).

Spark Plugs: Ignite the air-fuel mixture in a gasoline engine, initiating combustion.

3. Auxiliary and Management Systems:

Engine Control Unit: The “brain” of the car, collecting data from various sensors and precisely controlling fuel injection, ignition, etc., ensuring the engine operates at its optimal condition.

Cooling System: Includes the water pump, thermostat, and radiator, preventing the engine from overheating.

Lubrication system: including oil pump and oil filter, provides lubrication and cleaning for moving parts.
